LEADERSHIP:

Jay & Linda Moore

Jay Moore is the founding and senior pastor of Fellowship Of The Cross.  Jay and Linda were August of 1979 and have four grown children and four grandchildren.  Both Jay and Linda were raised in the Christian homes of Southern Baptist pastors.  They both came to faith in Christ during their teenage years.  They met, fell in love and got married while students at California Baptist University.

Jay has served the local church as a youth pastor, church planter, pastor of a single staff church and the senior pastor of a multi-staff church.  He graduated from California Baptist University in 1981 and received a Masters Degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1996.

It was while Jay and Linda were serving Valley Baptist Church in Salinas, California that they began to sense God leading them to a change in ministry.  It was during a time of prayer about the sad state of the North American church that Jay began to ask God what He was going to do.  Jay had noticed that the overall state of the North American church was declining both numerically and morally. So, in desperation Jay cried out to God asking what He was going to do about the situation.  It was during one of those prayer times that Jay sensed God telling him to look and see what He was all ready doing around the world and then he would know what He was going to do in North America.

So, Jay began to look at all kinds of mission reports and stories from the International Mission Board.  As Jay read he kept on noticing a recurring phrase that caught his attention.  That phrase was "Church Planting Movements" or "Disciple Making Movements".  Both of these terms seemed to be used interchangeably and referred to the same thing but with slightly different twists. These "Movements" were experiencing spiritually lost people coming to faith in Christ by the hundreds of thousands and each year the movements were picking up more steam and reaching an even larger number of people than the year before.  Those people who were coming to faith were also experiencing a radical change in their morality and obedience to Christ was a high value for them.  As a result Jay began to read up on anything he could find about Disciple Making/Church Planting Movements.

Both Jay and Linda clearly know that when God begins to show a person what He is up to it's not just to keep them informed but when God shows someone what He's about to do it's because God is also calling them to join Him in that activity.  As Jay read up on this "God Movements" he quickly realized that nothing in his experience, education or training had prepared him for this kind of ministry.  The kind churches that were being started in these Church Planting Movements were radically different from the kind of churches that were in existence in North America and the way people were discipled in these movements were also completely different.  This led Jay to desperately begin looking for training opportunities or books that could shed light on how to join God in this new ministry activity.

In April of 2011, Jay and Linda resigned the position of Senior Pastor of Valley Baptist Church and moved to Tucson, AZ to start Fellowship Of The Cross. The first 2 1/2 years Jay and Linda were in a learning curve.  They knew some things that needed to be done in order to join God in igniting Church Planting/Disciple Making Movements but didn't have all the pieces of the puzzle.  The work was slow during these first couple of years.  Then in October of 2013 Jay and Linda were able to connect with Jeff Sundell, a former IMB missionary in Nepal, and a seasoned veteran in igniting CPM'S. Jeff was back in the United States training people in a powerful strategy for developing CPM's/DMM's called T4T Training. So, in October 2013 Jay and Linda participating in the Basic T4T Training in Nashville, Tennessee and then in December of that same year Jay got to go to the advance T4T Training in Austin, Texas.  From those two trainings God showed Jay and Linda what pieces of the CPM/DDM puzzle they had, what pieces they were missing and what they had that didn't belong.  Because of that training the first three months of 2014 began a major restructuring of Fellowship Of The Cross of how it would operate and how Jay and Linda are to join God in this powerful movement and activity He is bringing to North America.  The results of these changes is greater momentum in seeing a movement of God ignite.
